The list of factors for success develop from surveys of partnerships, and workshops of practitioners mentored in making and running partnerships:
- Agreement that a partnership is required.
- Like and believe between various wishes.
- The leadership of a respected individual or individuals.
- Commitment of main interests made through a clear and open system.
- The emerge of a shared vision of what might be won.
- Time to make the partnership.
- Shared mandates or agendas.
- The development of optional methods of working, and flexibility.
- Good communication, perhaps helped by a facilitator.
- Collaborative decision-making, with a view to winning consensus.
- Effective organizational management.
Failed partnership
The list of factors are characteristics of failed attempts at partnership, or warnings that something is happening wrong:
- A history of conflict across key interests.
- Anyone of partner manipulates or overrides.
- Short of clear cause.
- Unrealistic targets.
- Variances of philosophy and methods of working.
- Communication lack.
- Unequal and unacceptable level of power & control.
- Key interests lacking from the partnership.
- Hidden agendas.
- Financial and time commitments outweigh the capable benefits.
